Application: Kitchen counters supported by our countertop brackets used in a Kitchen Remodel.
"The brackets worked very well for this application. This application was part of a kitchen refit whereby I fabricated new bamboo plywood slab doors and panels to update the original 60's kitchen.
The client wanted the look of a 'floating counter top' which was to be part of a peninsula in an existing kitchen. The challenge here was that instead of having a typical 2X4 half wall on which to "set" the counter top, I had to cantilever the top on the back of the cabinet (only 3/4" thick). Obviously the brackets we used needed to be sufficient in size/strength to support both the weight of the top and any live load it might encounter.
My solution was to use your 10x18 heavy duty 'L' bracket (client did not want to see any strut support!). To further conceal the bracket, the project called for an overlay panel to be applied to the back of the existing cabinet peninsula. I used 6 brackets to span an approximate 105" length and dado-ed the backside of the panels to received the thickness of the bracket. One bonus to using the 18" length in the vertical aspect was the effect of "stiffening" the existing cabinet back. This was an effect I hoped would happen as I evaluated the options for brackets. Finally, we simply sprayed the exposed horizontal aspect of the bracket to approximate the color of the underside of the counter top. The client is very pleased with the installation and I was please with the fit and finish of the 10x18 brackets.
Thanks again for your assistance."
